Writing a Speech
Geography
Imagine you were in charge of an area of the world.
How would you manage it?
What would you change?
Your activity:
- In groups of 2-3, select a type of biome and create a triarama using cardboard that shows the main features of your selected biome. These features include: natural features, vegetation, climate, animals & threats.
- Selecting a biome: use the biomes map to select a region and biome you are focusing on. Record the continent, country and biome you have selected.
- On the front-facing side of your triarama (behind your created features), you need to include information about each of the following: natural features, vegetation, climate, animals & threats. You will need to conduct research using devices to find the relevant information. The information can then be written on the triarama, or typed up on a computer, printed out and glued on.
- Create a small settlement/building that could be found in your biome. Remember to only use materials that can be found in your chosen environment, for example if you lived in the grasslands there would not be many trees so you would have to build a house from grass or mud.
- Consider the impacts your settlement/building would have on the environment and show your understanding of the impacts somewhere on your presentation. How you choose to demonstrate your knowledge is up to you: you could write the information on the base of triarama near your building OR create a video of your group discussing it and share it via a QR code link - it is up to you!
